Everyone loves to see a really cool experiment, but the neat part of my programs are that students are the ones doing the science. Science is more fun when you are "doing it" as opposed to just watching someone else "doing it".

We could certainly put on a performance that blows thing up, or have a fog machine and laser lights, but I think that:

1) The learning is short lived

2) It reinforces that only scientist can do science as opposed to
    letting students know they can!

3) Applications can and should be applied to their everyday life.

The "performance" is a short, lively talk explaining the procedures that the children will do. After the talk, children will rotate among a variety of stations doing an activity each time. After the students are concluded with their activities, a short follow up discussion will be conducted with the students. 

We will also show the teachers the State of Michigan Benchmark Standards that the lesson covers.
